My Eureka Moment

15 Apr

An EXCITING DISCOVERY!

So there I was, minding my own business doing a Primal Might transmute and the next thing I know….

For the uninitiated, in post-TBC WoW, alchemists have the ability to make “Discoveries” of new recipes when making TBC-introduced recipes or transmutes. According to WoWWiki, “When you discover a recipe, your character will perform an animation, and a message describing your discovery will be visible to nearby players of both factions.”

Yes indeedy. The “animation” is no other than the big level ding which surprised the bejeebus out of my as I was less than half paying attention while the transmute was underway. The chance of these discoveries is apparently fairly rare (rumor has it around 0.1%), so its a bit like an epic dropping from the sky. And there it was in my recipe book.

But not unlike Eve inventions, they’re not always beneficial or useful. In my case, I learned transmute primal life into primal earth. Cool, except that Primal Lifes (Primal Lives?) are going for around 20G per while Primal Earth is going for only 4G.

Still its nice to get hit by the flying fickle finger of fate once in a while.

Nice moment there Potshot, think it’s a little bit harsh on the player to get this rare gaming moment if what you discover isn’t useful. It’s like winning the lottery but only getting a wooden spoon as your prize!

But, on the bright side, you got the useless discovery out of the way first, now it should be wine and roses.
