One of the nice things about having a wordpress blog is the continous stream of information about your site and its visitors that it provides you. I usually look at total hits, referring sites, whether any new sites are linking me and what posts seem to be getting traffic.
I don’t usually spend too much time reading the tea leaves in understanding the search terms that people used to find my site. But once in a while you have to just stop and wonder:
booty in the grocery store
Apparently, if you use those terms to search blogs on google, one of my Eve Online posts comes up as #4 (out of 10,592 results no less– go figure that one out on your own time) just behind *cough* a blog post about Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian, “booty licious sex movies” and a story about the veggie booty e-coli contamination a while back.
Ahh technology. To quote Steve Martin, “This is the kind of spontaneous publicity that makes people.” I guess its not so surprising that a post of mine might have come back as a search result, but more puzzling is that someone clicked through to it… That’s what keeps me up at night.
