Technically, it’s “Deep Space Station K-7,” not “Deep Space 7.” It was so named because it was on the border between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, positioned less than four light years from its Klingon counterpart.
That’s what I get for posting past my bedtime… I note that the in game maps and system lists only list it as “deep space K-7″ without the “station” bit.
To make things worse, Deep Space [station] 9 is listed on the map as “DS9″. Go Cryptic.
